Create with Katie – New Year Course
Regular tutor led adult drawing and painting classes. All welcome, from beginners to enthusiasts!
In a friendly, supportive and relaxed environment I will help to unlock your inner creativity, with my experienced guidance. I will help you develop your own creative style and identity through drawing, painting and design techniques with my own love for the subject.
With my background in printed textiles for fashion I will offer a fresh perspective on this well loved practice!
My classes are tutor led, you will be guided through different skills and techniques in the chosen medium. I will demonstrate each subject and be on hand to help throughout the session. Each week we explore the world of drawing and painting, using a range of materials, from pencils and fine liners to watercolours and oil pastels and lots in between!
Spend a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy the fulfilling experience of creating art, meeting fellow creatives and enjoy a new challenge!

Join me for this 6 week drawing and painting course, enjoying the beginnings of a New Year!
This term we are celebrating moving from Winter into a New Year with the common thread of nature as our inspiration running throughout. The colourful and imaginative course is designed for all levels, from beginners who need extra help and guidance, to enthusiasts who want a space to explore their skills.
Classes are taught in a relaxed and friendly way and the small class sizes mean everyone can be given one to one advice and help through out.
At the start of each week I will demonstrate the steps and technique to guide you through the weeks chosen theme. As well as continuing with Watercolours we will dive into fluid and flowing inks, gouache and creative mixed media.
Each lesson is sociable and rewarding giving you a chance to try out new techniques and further develop familiar ones.
All materials are provided along with hot drinks and sweet treats!
Week 1: Finding inspiration in the everyday..
A good drawing is the framework for everything I paint. This week we will try various drawing exercises taking the beauty from everyday items as inspiration. Drawing with unfamiliar materials and looking closely at the textures and forms of old paint tubes, shells, vintage pots etc.
Week 2: Midnight Woodland…
Creating a midnight woodland with lush foliage and hidden animals, using black and white only- inks biro and fine liners.
Week 3: Watercolour Birds…
British birds painted in watercolours, techniques in painting textures of feathers, shiny beaks and sparkling eyes!
Week 4: Moody Winter Florals…
Winter Florals on dark moody grounds. Working with gouache snd watercolour..
Week 5: Chinese New Year…
Inspired by traditional Chinese ink and brush paintings. Using layered black ink and gold highlights.
Week 6: Wintery landscapes…
Using saturated and bold watercolour inks we will create wintery landscapes, navigating textures of trees and foliage.
Come along and spend time with fellow creatives in a relaxed and friendly environment where you can have fun learning new, artistic skills whilst developing your own personal creative style.

A little bit about myself…
I am an artist and designer with over 20 years experience working in the design industry, having graduated with a 1st class degree in Fashion Print from the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art, London.
I have a passion for drawing and painting, which has been a constant in my life and career. I am an experienced tutor of adult art classes and a printed textile designer who has worked with many well known international brands. I design my own range of products which are sold at independent shops across Wirral, at fairs and here on my website.
